Movies on accounting and business - Part 1 (4 movies only)

It's sort of hard to believe but the number one reason people search my blog is for "ACCOUNTING MOVIES".  It just goes to show the world is full of nerds like myself.  So here goes the first three

Film:

Ideas

Entrepreneurialism: Tells the story of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates.

Why it makes the list?

Great film, and accurate enough that you actually get a bit of important American computer history in there. You (of course) must remember that it is a DEPICTION of reality and not reality reality

Good or bad?

Great.

Film:

Avatar

Ideas

Green, Evil companies: Pocahontas and the smurfs with the greenines fight voltron.  The Last Samurai meets lost in space?  No idea. Tune in and switch off if you want to enjoy the film.  Try not to fall in the gaping plot holes.

Why it makes the list?

Because it's bullshit and famous for no real reason.  All my students have seen it so I discuss it in passing in class.

Good or bad?

Shit. Poo. Terrible. Wooden and pointless no idea of economics of which attempts to make a criticism of. It was in 3D but I actually saw it watching it on a laptop wondering why the picture was so blurry.
Can I give it a negative score I wonder?

Film:

Ideas

Entrepreneurialism: Tells the story of Mark Zukerberg and the evolution of "The Facebook".

Why it makes the list?

It's pretty inspiring and it doesn't tell a one sided story.  It's not the full truth, but it's also enough of the truth for it to be a useful demonstration or learning tool.  It also deals with something that your students can understand which makes it something you can relate corporate behaviors to your students.  It also has a strong them of loose ethics.

Good or bad?

HIT.I absolutely love this film.

That's all for the moment.  I will update this as time goes by.
